35-Year Reunion of the Seg 72 Team
Please join us on November 21st for a 35-year reunion of our Seg 72 Team.
This reunion event will be held on Friday evening, Nov. 21, at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport hotel. The hotel is conveniently located 4.5 miles from Washington Dulles Airport on a quiet side street off Rt. 28 (Sully Rd), between I-66 (north of Rt. 50) and Rt. 267 (Dulles Access Rd). The hotel address is 13869 Park Center Rd, Herndon, VA, 20171.
Reunion Evening Event Details
We have the Potomac ballroom reserved all evening, from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The evening will include a reception with a variety of appetizers served between 6:00 and 7:00 PM, and a dinner buffet served from 7:30 to 9:00 PM that will include both Fire Grilled Sliced Flank Steak and Herb Crusted Salmon for entrees, as well as two types of salads, potatoes, fresh vegetables and desserts. Iced tea, hot tea, and freshly brewed coffee will be included, and a bar (accepting credit cards) will offer selections of beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks. And for anyone with vegetarian or dietary restrictions, an additional plate of food will be prepared, in addition to the buffet. We will also have music playing, there will be some time for announcements and presentations with photo and video projection, and of course, there will be lots of time for socializing and great conversations.
This reunion event is open to everyone that had worked on or supported the Seg 72 program, along with their guests.
This Eventbrite website provides for easy registration and payment via credit card of $85.00 per person for the banquet, however this site charges a $7.55 servicing and processing fee, bringing the total to $92.55 per person. If you prefer to avoid this extra fee, you may send me the payment of $85 per person using PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or Apple Cash, or you may mail me a check to my home address; please see my separate email message for details on these other payment options.
The banquet sales via this website will be available until Nov. 5, as I need to provide the hotel final numbers for the food by Nov. 6, but please purchase your ticket(s) as soon as you know you will be attending. If you at least notify me by Nov. 5 that you will attend the banquet, you may pay for your ticket(s) later using one of the other payment methods listed above. If you cannot attend the banquet but can arrive later in the evening to meet us, a banquet ticket is not required, but it would be appreciated if you could provide a small donation (second ticket option) to help offset the ballroom and entertainment costs. Dress is business casual for this evening reunion event.
Hotel Room Booking Information
I have also negotiated a special discounted room rate at this Hilton hotel for our reunion attendees of only $115 per night (plus 15% tax) that is valid for up to 4 nights, from Thursday, Nov. 20, through Monday, Nov. 24. This is an especially good deal if you are arriving on Thursday night, but even local folks might want to use it for a room on Friday night. The above link will take you to the “S72 Reunion Room Block” page, and then clicking the “Book a Room” button will take you to the reservation page, which defaults to a stay for all 4 nights (Nov. 20 to 24), but you may change these dates to the ones you want by clicking on the “Edit stay” button at the top, and then clicking on the large "20 Nov to 24 Nov" button, which will bring up a calendar that allows you to select your specific dates. Following this, please click the Update button to the right, and the new reservation dates will show up on the top line of the page. Now you may select the “Quick Book” button below for a room with either 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds. If you are a Hilton Honors member, be sure to sign in by clicking the icon on the upper right of the page so that you will receive points for your stay, and other member benefits.
Please note that the hotel is initially setting aside a block of 10 rooms, and when that gets filled, I need to call them and they will set aside another block of 10 rooms, and they will keep doing this as long as rooms are available at this special rate. So if the "Book a Room" button is missing, please contact me (via email, phone, or text), and I will call the hotel to request another block of 10 rooms. This initial page also states that rooms must be booked by Oct. 22. I confirmed with the hotel that we may be able to extend this deadline (pending room availability), but everyone should still try to reserve their room by Oct. 22, as this will help ensure you obtain the group rate. Rooms also include complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, and for those who are interested, the hotel is pet-friendly, and will accept pets up to 70 lbs for a one-time $75 fee.
Parking, Hotel Shuttle, and DC Metro Information
There is ample free parking at the hotel for those attending the reunion event for the evening, but if you are staying at the hotel and parking overnight, there will be a small parking charge of $10 per night added to your hotel bill.
For those of you who may be flying into Dulles Airport who prefer not to rent a car, there is a free hotel shuttle that runs every 30 minutes between the airport and the hotel. And please note that the Washington DC Metro System runs all the way to Dulles Airport on the Silver Line, so if you are staying a few days, you could take the hotel shuttle to the airport and then get on the Metro Silver Line to head into DC, and you may also use the Metro system to travel between National Airport and Dulles Airport (in case you are arriving into National, and would like to make it to the hotel without renting a car).
We would also like to suggest that people staying at the hotel, who are attending the special Friday afternoon event, meet in the hotel lobby between 11:30 and 11:40 AM on Friday, so that folks can carpool over to that event. This will help those who are staying at the hotel without a car.
Bonus Weekend Opportunity at Spy Museum
For people traveling to the DC area who are staying an extra night or two, and also for local reunion attendees, we have a special opportunity to offer you. I’ve coordinated with the International Spy Museum, an amazing institution which houses the world’s largest collection of espionage and intelligence related artifacts, to offer a special deal for our reunion attendees, where you may receive an admission ticket to the museum at a discounted price, and take a 1-hour Highlights Tour for free (normally an extra cost). The combined ticket valued at $40 would be available for just $25, but there are just three museum entry (and tour start) times available on Saturday and Sunday, and two times on Monday, where this offer will apply, as follows:

Each museum entry time is limited to 10 people (the tour maximum), so if you are interested, please let me know which dates and start times you would be available, along with your preferences, and I will try to accommodate as many people as possible. Although I can obtain these special discount tickets up until Nov. 19, I will need to inform the Spy Museum by Nov. 6 which of the above dates and times we will use for these special tours, so please provide me your preferences as soon as you can.
