☆☆☆☆☆Next Wednesday, Strange Company invites you all to come down and welcome back our old Venue Manager, the ever knowlegable Tom Daniel of Chouette Wines.
Set in the heart of our very own Swan Valley and with a familial background in winemaking from south of Susannah Brook, you just know its going to be good.
A second generation winemaker and a good friend of the bar, we are always stoked to have Chouette on our menu and in our glasses!
‘New school wines from gnarly old vines' is the Chouette motto and we are all here for it, especially the new vintages! Tom uses natural ferments & the minimal-intervention principles of production to create lively & delicious wines with something for all palates.
Since taking the reigns at his familys' winery in Millendon a few years back, Tom has made it his mission to take a distinctly modern & fresh approach to the Swan Valley Wine game, using old, heritage-vine fruit & the lo-fi techniques of yore.
Traditional styles and the classic ways combine with funky tannins and different mouthfeels, and to be honest ~ the product speaks for itself!
When it you taste it, it's clear that everything that was once old is new again and the two can definitely meet in the middle flavour-wise!
The wines are bright and textural, super vibrant & extra moreish so we’re very excited to have him back in here for our next Strange Tastes.
From favourites such as the Fabric Chenin, to Suzy Rouge, the delicuous
Cold Cuts Grenache and the Revival, Tom will talk us through some cult favourites and crack into some new expressions too. If we’re lucky we may get to also try the stickies!
Get your tickets now for this alumni edition of the bi-weekly tasting and get down early for a great seat.
Chouette has two meanings, it's French - colloquial for 'Cool', and it's a noun for 'Owl'. The name reflects the old wisdom of the area & the family roots plus gives a nod to the new era & his desire to make fun and yum wine.
