About this Event
Want to meet a legendary artist? One who not only excelled in her art but helped transform it with her performances, creativity and teachings?
Few dancers are named “étoile” (principal dancer) at l’Opéra de Paris. Even fewer are made “Étoile-choreographer” as our guest was.
Few people can claim to have influenced the evolution of their art in one country. By creating ground-breaking dance programs in Paris (GRTOP) and Venice (Teatrodanza), our guest did so in two countries.
Her many creations brought dance, poetry, philosophy, painting and sculpture together, to the point where the term ‘visual poetry’ is a better word than ‘choreography’ to describe her work.
From San Francisco to the Paris Opera and the Pantheon, from the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris to Helsinki, from the Palais des Papes in Avignon to the Fenice theatre in Venice, from Ballet Cullberg to La Cartoucherie in Paris, from the Venice Biennale to Roubaix, she has danced on the most prestigious scenes in the world. On March 18th, it is Sciences Po’s privilege to welcome Carolyn Carlson for a "Rendez-Vous de la Création".
Excelling in your art takes passion, commitment and talent. What does it take to transform your art?
