Anvil, formed in Toronto in 1978 by childhood friends Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner, played a pivotal role in shaping the speed and thrash metal scene. Known for their fast, heavy sound, their second and third albums, Metal on Metal and Forged in Fire, gained attention in the early 1980s. Despite their influence, the band struggled with label and management issues, leading to limited commercial success. A 2009 documentary, Anvil! The Story of Anvil, brought them renewed fame. They continued recording and touring, releasing their 19th studio album, Impact Is Imminent, in 2022.
