Kick Off the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival in Olympic Style!
Get ready to ignite the festival weekend in the most unforgettable way!
Join us Saturday, March 21 at 9:00 a.m. as we launch the 45th Annual Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival with the Running of the Torches — a high-energy, feel-good ceremonial fun run celebrating 30 years of Olympic history at the legendary Georgia International Horse Park.
Inspired by the excitement of the 1996 Olympic torch relay, young runners will race across the Grand Prix Olympic stadium carrying a pink ceremonial torch, symbolizing springtime, community pride, and our 2026 festival theme: Rooted Together.
✨ Here’s what makes it special:
- Open to children & teens ages 6–18
- Every registered runner keeps their foam torch
- All participants receive an Olympic-style medal
- 🏃♀️ The first 10 finishers win a FREE limited-edition festival t-shirt!
The morning begins with a heartfelt tribute honoring former city leader Tony Lucas, who proudly carried the Olympic torch in 1996 at the Horse Park. His daughter, Deputy Chief Kim Lucas, will help us celebrate a legacy that continues to unite future generations in the Conyers community.
