Darko Rundek is a Croatian singer, known as one of the most distinctive voices from the music scene of the former Yugoslavia. Together with the band Ekipa, he is coming to Stockholm and the Global Sounds Festival on November 21!Born in Zagreb in 1956, Rundek first gained attention as the frontman of the influential new wave band Haustor, whose blend of rock, new wave, and poetic lyrics left a lasting mark on the regional music.
After moving to Paris in the 1990s, Rundek embarked on a successful solo career with the acclaimed album *Apokalipso*, followed by several projects such as Rundek Cargo Orkestar, Rundek Cargo Trio, and Rundek & Ekipa. The combination of diverse world music influences and a theatrical, poetic expression makes him one of the region's most respected and original artists. Major Haustor songs like *Ena*, *Šejn*, and *Bi mog’o da mogu* found worthy successors in *Apokalipso*, *Grane smo na vjetru*, *Señor*, and others.
In addition to music, Rundek has directed and acted in theater and radio plays, composed film scores, and consistently advocated for artistic integrity, multicultural dialogue, and ecological awareness.
Ekipa consists of drummer Silvio Bočić, bassist Roko Crnić, vibraphonist and percussionist Miro Manojlović, trumpeter Igor Pavlica, and tenor saxophonist Ana Kovačić.
“Of course, every audience reaction is important to us. A concert is an event that unites the musicians and the audience in something that belongs to neither of them,” says Darko Rundek.
