STATEMENT
DEC. 1st, 2024 - BELLAS ARTES MAISON CRÉATIVE hosts its first RUN FOR LOVE initiative in London in collaboration with THE SAMEER PROJECT, a mutual aid initiative led by four Palestinians in who supply emergency response and funding to displaced families in Gaza.
With a collective goal of £10,000, the donation will aid in THE SAMEER PROJECT’S efforts in supplying direct shelter and specialised on-site support to displaced families. With part of their team based in London, participants will be directly engaged with the donation effort and be given first hand information regarding the impact of their aid across sites in North, Central and Southern Gaza, specifically in these areas: Land Preparation,Water & Waste, Living Area & Children’s Support Area, Basic Medical Clinic, Community Kitchen & Water Distribution, Tent, Blanket & Living Supply Distribution.
The Run For Love initiative was conceived as an act of human social design, to encourage individuals to take collective action for social change against violence. Inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s ‘Bed Peace’ campaign, RUN FOR LOVE uses the word ‘love’ as the driving component for non-violent action, with the result being the diffusion of the positively binding human connotation of the word LOVE as collective action against war.
THE SAMEER PROJECT
The Sameer Project, a grassroots aid organization led by four Palestinians in the diaspora, is proud to announce our first tent encampment project that provides shelter and specialized support to displaced families in Central Gaza. This first encampment will serve some of the most vulnerable families: highrisk perinatal and neonatal females, children with physical or mental disabilities, adults with special needs and mobility issues, war injuries and chronic diseases. With this narrowed criteria, we will be able to serve the most critical population with tailored services and facilities, to enhance their health, safety of gestation and delivery for babies and new mothers, prevent complications and further injury of wounds, as well as care for the children and adults that need special attention. In addition, this takes a burden off the over-stressed hospital system as we also take referrals from medical NGOs to accomaodate the most urgent cases as they await medical evacuations out of Gaza by the World Health Organization.
