All day Ruler and Gridwork ClassFriday November 15th, 2024
9am - 4pm, Appleton, WI
(Lunch included)
Ruler Class Description:
There are so many ways to use rulers!! In our small, hands-on class setting, Wendy will help show you tips and tricks for using rulers safely and effectively on your longarm to create straight lines, curves, circles, and arcs/swags.
Wendy will teach you how to combine patterns to create complex looking designs. You'll learn how to use these designs for blocks, borders, sashings, and edge to edge options!
We'll go to the longarm and stitch out some designs, trying out different rulers to see which ones you may want to start adding to your quilting tool kit. There will also be plenty of time to work hands-on at the longarm and you will go home with your project!
Gridwork Class description:
What is "Grid-work"?? It's when you quilt a grid-based design that can use stencils/marking or piecing lines to guide your quilting. Some of the common examples are "continuous curves" and "orange peel", but the possibilities are endless!
We'll practice designs on the longarms that can be done free motion, as well as some using rulers. These designs can be done at any scale... larger to fill spaces or place on a quilt block, or tiny for background fills and "heirloom quilting.
So many options for blocks, borders, and background fills! (This class is for beginners through experienced skill levels - Plenty of options to challenge us all)!
Bring a quilt top to class and we can help make a plan together that gets you practicing your new ruler work skills when you get home!
** All classes will be adapted to experience levels of participants and will help progress learnings from Wendy's prior classes if you have attended them**
This class is held at our Appleton location 1017 W Northland Ave. Appleton, Wi (Right next door to Going to Pieces Quilt Co.)
