Invitation to Shape the Future of Ultrafast Biosciences at RUEDI
Join us on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at The Royal Society, London, for an exclusive event hosted by Professor Roland Fleck from the Biosciences Theme of the Relativistic Ultrafast Electron Diffraction and Imaging (RUEDI) national facility.
RUEDI is poised to revolutionise our ability to observe and understand ultrafast processes, enabling groundbreaking research across 5 scientific themes of: (i) Biosciences, (ii) Dynamics of Chemical Change, (iii) Energy Generation, Transformation and Storage, (iv) Materials under Extreme Conditions and (v) Quantum Materials and Processes.
RUEDI is funded through the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council as part of the UKRI Infrastructure Fund. In partnership between the University of Liverpool, the Rosalind Franklin Institute and the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Daresbury, RUEDI will be the only instrument of its kind, with both the fastest time resolution electron microscope and the fastest time resolution electron diffraction capabilities.
By integrating cutting-edge ultrafast methods with artificial intelligence, RUEDI aims to address some of society’s most critical scientific challenges.
This event offers a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise and ideas:
Collaborate: Share your input on the design of RUEDI
Innovate: Propose experiment ideas that tackle the scientific challenges of biosciences, including observing the chemical driving forces of biological function, targeting drug development, and creating biomimics for novel applications.
Your insights will help shape the capabilities of RUEDI to support the UK’s scientific community and beyond.
Hosted by:
Professor Nigel Browning, University of Liverpool
Professor Roland Fleck, Kings College London
Professor Angus Kirkland, Rosalind Franklin Institute
Keynote Speaker: Professor Wah Chiu, Stanford University
We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event and working together to advance the frontiers of bioscience and technology.
