Industrial Speaker: Rikki Thomas
Rikki is Director of Operations at CyDen, a £100m medical technology company producing advanced IPL devices. He oversees engineering, production, and supply chain operations across the UK and China, leading a team of more than 300. Beginning his career as a Ford apprentice, he now brings over 25 years of leadership experience focused on innovation, operational excellence, and high‑performing teams.
Academic Speaker: Richard Morgan
Richard is Head of Research, Enterprise & Innovation Services and Assistant Dean for Innovation & Engagement at UWTSD. With 30 years’ experience across higher education and engineering, he leads industry–academia partnerships in advanced manufacturing, automation, energy, and healthcare. His work aligns applied innovation with teaching, supporting regional economic growth and student engagement. He has received national recognition for innovation and enterprise.
Host: Alan Mumby FRSAWith over 30 years’ experience in innovation and new product development, Alan now teaches innovation and product development management across the Welsh Institute of Science and Art and the Institute of Management & Health. He supports students in developing creative and practical approaches to innovation. Alan is also a Fellowship Councillor of the Royal Society of Art, Manufacture and Commerce.
