Architecture Beyond Aesthetics
Join us for this year’s RSAW Annual Conference on Thursday 28th November at Cornerstone, Cardiff, where we will explore the theme ‘Architecture: Beyond the Aesthetics’.
By looking beyond the cosmetic merits of architecture, the day’s programme will examine its vital role in how people feel about the places they live, work and socialise. The aim of the conference is to unpick how carefully considered architecture is pivotal for the public good.
We will hear about how we can preserve our local heritage and make it accessible for the public to enjoy and learn from. We will also consider the importance of retrofit in ensuring that our built environment is developed sensitively: keeping hold of buildings that can be reused while adding new elements and services to make them appropriate for the 21st century.
The programme includes case studies from Wales, England and Ireland which consider placemaking, community projects driven by the public themselves, retrofitted public spaces and buildings and RIBA Award-winning buildings.
