Hang on to your faces, as your friends at Potsdam’s experimental music label, ROUST Records, brings nuclear blues noise machine Turf 'N' Turf to PPL's Main Reading Room, with Syracuse's guitarist/slowcore droner Mountain of Woe and Canton-Potsdam's Aldous/Eckert/Grev Quartet.Hailing from East Greenwich, NY, Turf ‘N’ Turf is a one man Nuclear Blues Noise Machine- a seven-foot-tall cage loaded with percussion pieces and Snail - the headbangin’, slide-guitar playin,’ blues-shoutin’ Noise Machine Engineer himself. The Turf’s sound delivers country blues and traditional rock ‘n’ roll distorted by all things metal and punk. Hold onto your faces, the Turf’s gonna blast like a two ton shell. Find his music here.
Another iteration of the ROUST Collective, for this program The Local Service Initiative is an improvising quintet based in Canton-Potsdam, NY, which provides aesthetic interventions in communities underserved by the avant-garde. Dual saxophones, piano, guitar, electronics, voice, and other surprises await the Potsdam Public Library. These longtime friends and collaborators have a deep history improvising together and continue to exude excitement from where their performances take them. You can find more music from ROUST Records here.
Returning to PPL for the second time is Mountain of Woe, from Syracuse. Mountain of Woe is what happens when depressive heavy folk meets feedback worship - slowcore/drone. “Music For those battling guilt and surviving grief. For those of us seeking redemption though we may not deserve it. For the lost.” Find the music of Mountain of Woe at https://mountainofwoe.bandcamp.com/.
