Disinformation and its consequences have attracted significant attention of researchers from various academic fields. Recent research addresses topics such as the dissemination and reception of disinformation among selected target groups (media studies, communication studies), belief formation (philosophy, psychology), history narratives (history), automation of disinformation detection processes (linguistics, computer science), regulation of online platforms that facilitate the development of disinformation techniques and tools (law), the social consequences and political challenges associated with disinformation (social sciences, political science), the impact of disinformation on educational processes, and the last but not least definition and classification of relevant public security phenomena, which are increasingly susceptible to disinformation processes and narratives. However, this research remains fragmented across various disciplines and methodologies.
The "Roundtable on Disinformation Research" project aims to create an international forum for dialogue among disinformation researchers, emphasizing the combination of normative and descriptive approaches, as well as conceptual and empirical methods. A one-day kick-off event is planned for 25th of September 2025 at the Center for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin. A collective publication entitled "Disinformation Research Across Disciplines" is planned for the following year.
