About
The National Archives has been commissioned by DCMS to create the Government's new strategic vision for archives. We have appointed BOP Consulting to carry out consultation on the current and future issues and opportunities for the archives sector. The consultation is based on a provocation paper.
We would greatly appreciate your input into the creation of a new government strategic vision for the archives sector.
This event is one of eight available roundtables, six of which will be in person across England and two of which will be online. Please note that you only need to attend one roundtable.
Bookings for roundtables will close one week before the event date and spaces are limited so please book early.
If you’re not able to attend any of the roundtables, there is also an online consultation form for archive sector professionals. If you are a member of the public, there is an online consultation form for archive users. Both forms will be open until 29 November 2024.

For these roundtables about the Government's new strategic vision for archives, we are working with BOP Consulting and venues to uphold The National Archives’ commitment to environmental sustainability.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Minimising the use of paper, printing, and postage, and opting for digital alternatives whenever possible
- Avoiding unnecessary travel and using public transport, cycling, or walking instead of driving or flying
- Choosing low-carbon or renewable energy sources for any equipment or facilities used for the work
- Choosing vegetarian options by default, while catering individual dietary requests on an individual basis
- Reducing waste and recycling materials as much as possible
- Considering the environmental impact of any suppliers or partners involved in the work and seeking to work with those who share similar sustainability value
