Welcome to the Autism Awareness Training event, hosted by Cloverleaf Advocacy, in partnership with the Lancashire Skills Hub and Inclusion @ Lancashire County Council. Join us on Friday 18th Oct 2024 for an exciting opportunity to gain a further understanding of the autism spectrum (ASD/AS), and how you can make reasonable adjustments when interviewing, hiring and fostering relationships with people who have ASD in the workplace or otherwise.
Location: County Hall
This training is suitable for employers of all sizes and sectors, including and not limited to widening participation, HR, managers, mentors, equality and diversity and so forth.
The session will cover:
- A look at the medical definition of ASD & brief history of the evolution of diagnoses and thinking.
- Examples from someone with lived experience of how the medical definition translates to real life.
- Practical communication activity with the aim of helping people understand the importance of clear concise information and not to assume people have the same shared points of reference when communicating. Followed by more detailed information on communication.
- Looking at the autism spectrum and how it is no longer considered linear.
- The 8 senses and hypo and hypersensitivity.
- Stimming and it's importance.
- Importance of making reasonable adjustments and examples.
