We will be helping to clear the ponds on the site of excess vegetation to ensure open water remains and to preserve a varied pond habitat.
About this Event

Roslin Moat is on the restored site of a colliery and brick works. Over 30,000 trees and shrubs were planted at the Moat in 1990, leaving an additional area for plants and wildlife to gradually colonise. There is also an old curling pond which is a haven for aquatic species. The reserve as a whole boasts a good variety of wildflowers, birds and invertebrates, and the woodland is particularly interesting for fungi lovers.

On this visit we will be helping to clear the ponds on the site of excess vegetation to ensure open water remains and to preserve a varied pond habitat. We will also be carrying out other woodland management tasks on this pleasant local reserve.

We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 01313370223 to book a space and for joining instructions.

Please bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.

NEW VOLUNTEERS Please only book one task initially. If you do not attend without letting us know, we may cancel any additional task bookings. If you are under 18 you will need to be accompanied by a guardian. Please contact us to discuss arrangements for volunteering with us , or whether other organisations might be more appropriate.

You can check our website for further information and frequently asked questions.
