Rosie’s Wonder-Gala is a glitzy gala event with plenty of imagination, raising funds to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in local Tasmanian communities. This one if for the West Tamar region, after already being available on the East!This gift of reading is delivered at no cost to families.
Expect all the gala favourites, with a Rosie’s Reading twist: delicious canapés and desserts, drinks, live and silent auctions, the Magic Book Raffle, out-of-this-world selfie sets, Rosie’s Book Nook displays, plenty of fun and fundraising, and an open dance floor. The big imaginations at Flying Colours and Soundhouse are helping create an event experience full of whimsy, colour and delight.

Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five - the most critical time of a child's development. Each month, a high-quality book arrives in the post, with the child's name on the label creating special moments of shared reading at home and shows the family that we value reading as a community, and for the child, that reading is a gift.
WHAT IS IMAGINATION LIBRARY?
🌟 It's the most successful book gifting and community reading program for pre-school children and their families in the world - and we bring an Australian version to Tasmania.
🌟 Builds a home library of up to 60 Australian, age aligned books, fostering daily reading habits - the booklist chosen by a professional Book Selection Committee.
🌟 In cities such as Tamworth NSW, 98% of children are enrolled in the Imagination Library and are 9x more likely to be read to 4 or more days per week.
🌟 Includes tip sheets to help families engage with the book and extend the developmental impact into everyday life.
🌟 Children in Australia were 6x more likely to demonstrate receptive and expressive vocabulary compared to children not in the program.
🌟 Wrap-around engagement activities such as read-alouds delivered through schools, early learning centres and libraries inspire a culture of shared reading enjoyment.
🌟 Caregivers are 7x more likely to count images, 8x more likely to describe images and 4x more likely to let the child hold the book.

📙 Australia Post will deliver 17,280 books every year in the West Tamar region alone!
📘 Evaluation shows that each book will be read around 20 times - this equates to more than 345,000 shared reading moments every year!
Our vision is that all children begin school with shared reading experiences, stronger vocabulary and comprehension, and greater emotional regulation.
