About this Event
ROSES ARE DEAD: A Cathartic Mixed Media Workshop
Valentine’s Day can be complicated, and this workshop is a space to honor all of it.
Join multidisciplinary artist Lauren Ashleigh for a playful, cathartic mixed media experience focused on emotional release, self-expression, and empowerment. This is not about being anti-love, it’s about making room for your real feelings and transforming them into art.
Participants are invited to bring personal items to incorporate into their work—photos to burn, objects to break, stuffed animals to dismember (lovingly… lol), or anything symbolic you’re ready to let go of. Through layering, destruction, mark-making, and experimentation, we’ll turn raw emotion into something new.
🎶 Expect old breakup songs
🔥 Burning, ripping, breaking, and rebuilding
🎨 Fun, accessible mixed media techniques
🖤 A supportive, judgment-free environment
No art experience necessary. This workshop is open to all ages, genders, and emotional states. Whether you’re heartbroken, healing, relieved, empowered, or just curious...all emotions are welcome!
Lauren’s goal is to help you tune into your emotions, have fun during a time of year that can be tough, and leave with a finished 9x12 piece that represents self-love, resilience, and moving forward.
Sometimes destroying things is how we create something beautiful.
