Booking Boulder’s Music Venues
Booking Boulder’s Music Venues is an informational workshop designed to help artists, managers, and music community members better understand how live music booking works across Boulder’s diverse venue landscape. The workshop will explore a range of the city’s best-known music and arts venues, including Trident, License No. 1, Velvet Elk, Junkyard Social, eTown, and the Fox Theater, offering insight into how each space approaches programming and artist booking.
Participants will learn about the different booking models used by local venues, from spaces that offer no guarantees or operate on door splits, to venues that provide flat performance fees, require ticket sales, or function as rental-based spaces. The workshop will break down what venues typically look for when booking artists, how to approach venue talent buyers professionally, and how expectations around promotion, production, and compensation can vary widely depending on the room.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a clearer understanding of how to navigate Boulder’s live music ecosystem, identify the right venues for their project or career stage, and approach the booking process with confidence and realistic expectations. This workshop is ideal for emerging artists, independent musicians, and anyone looking to better understand how live music opportunities are structured in Boulder.
