About this Event
Rooted Together: Healing in Nature is an afternoon where we invite you to get your hands dirty with gardening and art workshops while frolicking among the trees. Join artists, Nancy Keystone and Daniel Corral, through curated experiences just for you to take a breath out of our busy days to connect with the beautiful nature and trees in the park in delightfully unexpected ways while also building community.
This program is offered in collaboration with City of Santa Monica Community Gardens and the Urban Forestry Department.
Gather & Grow invites the community to spend a day relaxing and playing in Reed Park while enjoying a range of artistic experiences. There will be activities for children and adults beginning at 4pm. Each event offers a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on art making, take in the natural surroundings, and spend time grooving to music, watching incredible performances, and having fun with the whole family!

While we highly recommend guests RSVP via Eventbrite for updates, all events are free, family friendly and do not require reservations. For events outside in Reed Park, guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs, food and (non-alcoholic) beverages.

Family Activities in Park & Sound Installations
Info: Ongoing through the event, there will be games and activities for the whole family outside in Reed Park. Daniel Corral will also have various sound installations for you to experience hanging from the trees.

Seed Starting Workshop with Community Gardens

Info: Join our Community Garden Team for a Seed Starting Extravaganza. Get your hands dirty while we discuss the how, where and when for a variety of seeds. Sow some summer squash, plant some purple kohlrabi or take home a bit of pollinator mix to create habitat for our little creatures. And that rumor about a new Community Garden at the Miles Playhouse? Come see for yourself. The corn won’t quite be knee high by the 4th of July, but it may be on August 2nd. Hope to see you there.

Harmonicavergence
Info: Let's circle up at this time to take a collective breath together through harmonicas. We will lead you through it and have free harmonicas for folks to be able to use and take home! A community created concert, and a moment of music created together.

Petals & Pastels Workshop
Host: Cheyenne Green
Info: In this reflective, hands-on workshop, participants will use oil pastels to create visual representations of a fond memory they have in nature, whether it's playing in the yard as a kid, visiting the beach with friends, or just sitting in the sun. This workshop will be open to all ages and experience levels. It will aim to help people reconnect with their own memories with nature and acknowledge what feelings it brings up.
