Join us for our inaugural Plant Sale—a historic first opportunity to purchase plants propagated directly from our gardens by the very hands that tend them. This is your chance to take home horticultural rarities and unique cultivars often hard to find in commercial nurseries.
The High Line isn't just a park; it’s a living laboratory. And our collections of perennials are curated for more than their striking aesthetics—they are selected for their “urban grit,” the ability to thrive amidst a changing climate, cycles of drought and deluge, and the unique limitations of city light and soil. By bringing these expert-selected species home, you won’t just be gardening—you’ll be supporting a vibrant urban ecosystem that cleans our air and provides vital respite for the pollinators and birds that call New York City home.
To help you find the perfect match for your space, we’ve organized our sale into four distinct categories. Throughout the event, our Horticulture team will host specialized talks to dive deep into each category, sharing the secrets of our four-season gardens.
- Wildlife habitat: These are our ecological anchors. From nectar-rich wild bergamot to butterfly milkweed, these plants provide critical food and nesting sites for the city’s birds, bees, and butterflies.
- Shade-tolerant: Perfect for the “urban canyon” or a North-facing balcony. Learn how species like the Christmas fern and white wood aster create biodiversity in areas with limited sunlight while helping to slow rainwater runoff.
- Rain & wetland: Ideal for low-lying spots or areas that catch the rain. These hard-working plants, like swamp rose mallow and blue cardinal flower, are experts at filtering pollutants and managing the deluge cycles of city weather.
- Drought & climate-resilient: Inspired by the great American prairies, these sun-lovers are built for endurance. Species like prairie dropseed and purple coneflower thrive in poor soil and require very little water once established—making them the ultimate low-maintenance addition to your home.
