Earth Day Launch

As we celebrate Earth Day—and what we like to call Earth Month - here in McIntosh County, we know this work doesn’t stop on April 22. It carries into May… and every month that follows.
Keep McIntosh Beautiful is proud to launch Rooted & Rising: The Living Library Project—a hands-on, community-driven effort to transform the outdoor spaces of our beloved library.
🌿 What This Project Is All About:
Our library already is a community hub, a place to learn & a place to connect.
This project simply brings the outside up to match what’s already happening inside—creating a space that feels just as welcoming the moment you pull up.
Phase 1:
This is where it all begins! We’ll focus on the entrance and exterior spaces of the library—laying the foundation for a vibrant, welcoming outdoor environment.
What you’ll see taking shape:
• Fresh, vibrant flower beds with native plants & seasonal blooms
• GARDEN BENCHES and PICNIC TABLES for gathering, reading, and relaxing
• Interactive QR codes for fun, hands-on learning right on site
🤝 Community Partners
This project is powered by collaboration:
• UGA Extension – MC Halbrook
• McIntosh Master Gardener – Mia Sims
• Florabundance Gardens – Deborah Sheppard
• First Georgia Hardware
🙌 Community Engagement
This is a hands-on, community-driven project—and we want YOU to be part of it!
👉 Volunteer! All ages welcome. Contact KMB 912-289-1083 or [email protected]
đź’š Why It Matters:
This is one of those projects that shows exactly what makes McIntosh County special—people coming together, pitching in, and creating something meaningful.
Small steps. Big impact. And we’re just getting started…
