About this Event
You didn't get into teaching to just survive it.
But somewhere between the unread emails, the hard mornings, and the students who need more than you have left to give — survival became the goal.
That ends this summer.
Rooted & Ready is a one-day intensive workshop designed for new teachers and their mentor teachers — the Roots & Branches pairing — to do the work that most professional development never touches: your own internal regulation.
Not theory. Not another framework to file away. Real, personal, immediately usable tools built around the truth that the most powerful thing you can change in your classroom is you.
What this day is built on
This workshop is grounded in nearly 25 years of experience in education — including leading a school turnaround where suspension rates dropped dramatically in a single semester. Not because of a new program. Not because of a new policy. Because the adults in the building did their own work first.
That is the foundation of Rooted & Ready.
What You'll Walk Away With
🌱 Know your triggers before your students do — Identify the moments that hijack your best teaching and learn exactly what to do when they hit.
🌱 Stop surviving your day — start resetting within it — Walk away with a personal regulation plan you can actually use Monday morning, not just read about.
🌱 Build a shared language that sticks — New and mentor teachers leave with a common framework that makes coaching conversations faster, deeper, and real.
🌱 Rediscover why you started — Reconnect with the purpose that brought you into the classroom and let it fuel how you show up tomorrow.
Who this is for
This workshop is designed specifically for the Roots & Branches pairing — a new or newer teacher and their mentor teacher attending together. You will work side by side throughout the day, building a shared language and a shared plan you carry back into your building as a team.
If you are a mentor teacher who has been pouring into everyone else while running on empty — this day is for you too.
What the day looks like
This is not a sit-and-receive day. Every block has a purpose, a protocol, and a product you are building toward. You will leave with three tangible tools in hand:
- Your personal Educator Regulation Profile
- Your Educator Regulation Plan — Monday-ready and built by you
- One anchor practice rehearsed enough times in the room that it lives in your body, not just your notes
This workshop is presented by Cynthia Corn-Wattree, M.Ed., founder of The Brave Educator Project and a veteran education professional with nearly 25 years of experience in schools, classrooms, and educator development. Her work centers one conviction: that sustainable school transformation begins with the adults.
Everyone deserves better. That is not a slogan. It is the reason she keeps showing up.
While this workshop is designed around the new teacher and mentor pairing, any educator ready to do this work is welcome.
