Rooted and Regulated: Plant Teachings and SEL for Educators

Description: Come out for this Saturday workshop, where we will explore the “Plant Teachings for Growing Social-Emotional Skills” curriculum, part of a toolkit developed through a partnership between GRuB, Northwest Indian Treatment Center, and the Seattle Indian Health Board. The curriculum uses Indigenous wisdom and nature to teach social-emotional skills like resilience, boundaries, and collaboration, using plants as teachers. We’ll build Pacific Northwest plant familiarity through an exploratory field experience to help you create learning environments where students can feel seen, safe and connected.

Considerations: Most of this workshop will take place outside in varying weather conditions, and includes a 2-3 mile hike along mostly level, gravel roads, with a few hills. An option to ride in a vehicle instead of walking, and some folding stools are available; when registering please enter these or any other accommodation requests.
