Witness KM Sufi Ensemble founded by AR Rahman in concert in Bangalore on April 19th. The ensemble will showcase qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music from the Indian subcontinent that dates back over 700 years. Combining poetry, rhythm, and melody, qawwali conveys themes of divine love and spiritual yearning, guiding listeners toward transcendence and a deep connection with the divine.
The ensemble will perform timeless pieces such as “Khwaja Mere Khwaja,” “Kun Faya Kun,” and “Zikr,” alongside traditional qawwalis like “Man Kunto Maula” and “Dum Mast Qalandar.” Emerging from Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, the ensemble is dedicated to preserving the essence of Sufi music while adding contemporary depth.
