About the Programme
Join us for the launch of the graphic novel, Ronin Rat and Ninja Cat. Author and illustrator Joshua Chiang talks about his new book which has come very quickly after his first graphic novel, Five-foot-way Detective, which was on The Straits Times bestsellers list upon its debut in May 2024. Moderated by poet and illustrator Dr Gwee Li Sui, this promises to be an afternoon of fun and sharp ripostes.
This book launch is part of Singapore Writers Festival 2024 and is co-presented with the National Library Board.
About the Book
From the creator of The Five-Foot-Way Detective comes an exhilarating tribute to classic Chanbara (samurai swordfighting) movies, set in a vibrant world of talking animals, giant insects, bursts of magic, and a colossal, rampaging Daikaiju (giant monster)! Meet Whiskers, a cunning ronin (masterless samurai) rat with a knack for making enemies and a chronic shortage of cash. Enter Maneki, a notorious kitten burglar with a huge bounty on his furry head. When fate drops a clue to a legendary lost treasure into their laps, these unlikely allies must join forces to not just find the treasure, but to stay ahead of Whiskers' enemies every step of the way!
