We are stoked to be hosting our annual Roller Derby 101 Program for 2026!This program will focus on developing beginner skills when it come to roller skating and the sport of Roller Derby, ensure that skaters are able to control their bodies, fall safely, learn various ways to stop, and layer in some basic forms of contact towards the end of the series. Each practice will build off the previous so it is important that participants make an effort to make it to each practice if at all possible.
All participants must be 18+, all genders welcome.
Registration for this event is $75 payable via e-transfer to [email protected]. Please specify in the e-transfer comment box your name and that it is for Roller Derby 101. There is also mandatory insurance through Canada Roller Derby Services ($57.75). To make sure folks are well supported we do require you to register in advance.

Practices will be from 6:30pm - 9:30pm on Sundays. The practice dates are as follows:
Practice One Sunday, January 11th
Practice Two Sunday, January 18th
Practice Three Sunday, January 25th
Practice Four Sunday, February 1st
Practice Five Sunday, February 8th
No Practices February 15th and 22nd due to not having space
Practice Six Sunday, March 1st
No Practices March 8th, 15th, & 22nd due Spring Break & Arctic Winter Games - potential for some non-skating events such as watching some roller derby bouts or rules discussions.

Practice Nine Sunday, April 12th
Practice Ten Sunday, April 19th

Graduation Scrimmage and Intro to Roller Derby Rules & Strategy Clinic - Sunday, May 31st
You are encouraged to source your own equipment, however, if you are unable to do so our league has some limited gear that we can lend for a deposit of $50 for the duration of the program. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance of the start to coordinate this. You are required to bring your own (already molded) mouthguard.
