In recent years, Rolf Thofte has established himself as one of the most prominent trumpeters on the Danish jazz scene. He has played with many of the country's biggest names. Among many others: Kathrine Windfeld, Jakob Dinesen, Nikolaj Hess, Fredrik Lundin, DR Big Band.The Rolf Thofte Quintet released their debut album "Martha's Dance" in September 2025 on the April Records label. Martha's Dance was "album of the week" on DR P8 Jazz and has been well received by critics at home and abroad.
In addition to the trumpeter himself, the band consists of a number of the most prominent figures on the younger Danish jazz scene: Andreas Toftemark (sax), Rasmus Sørensen (piano), Jakob Roland (double bass) and Henrik Holst Hansen (drums).
The music is Thofte's original compositions and can be described as jazz with a capital "J". It is music that speaks to the brain, heart and body.
