Dementia 13 was the second film directed by a young Francis Ford Coppola, another of Roger Corman's many disciples, who co-wrote the screenplay with another burgeoning titan of exploitation cinema, Jack Hill. It left audiences in 1963 shocked and surprised by its incredibly effective atmosphere and creative story turns. It remains a masterwork in the horror genre over 60 years after its first premiere.
