This is a 2 day assessment following the Rock Climbing Instructor Award syllabus.
About this Event

The assessment takes place over 2 days and follows the Rock Climbing Instructor Award syllabus. This is mainly a practical assessment with some theory session in the evening. Candidates are advised to prepare fully and refer to the 'Rock Climbing Instructor Handbook' so they can gain most benefit from the course. A formal review and individual results are given on the final afternoon.

Pre-requisites

Assessment pays a lot of attention to the log book (DLOG) and cannot be made without a suitably informative record of your past experience.

The logbook (DLOG) should be fully completed including:

• Record of training course or evidence of exemption.

• Up to date record of experience since training, including:

• A minimum 40 traditional lead climbs outdoors, 20 of which are Severe grade or above.

• A minimum of 10 Sport climb leads on bolt protected sport climbs.

• Competent in the use of climbing walls and of logged 30 indoor leads of F4 or above.

• A minimum of 20 assisted supervising sessions with 10 being indoors and 10 outdoors. 5 of which need to have reflective comments on DLOG.

• Attended a face to face 2 day first aid course.

You will be required to complete a ‘Home Theory Paper’ and return it to the Centre prior to the course. This will be sent to you one month before the course.

You will also be expected to make a five minute presentation on an assessment related topic.

You will be notified of your topic when we send you the ‘Home Theory Paper’.

Mountain Training may be contacted at the following address for registration and syllabus enquiries: www.mountain-training.org .
