ROBIN HOOD: Music in Concert
Robin Hood in Concert features various selections of music drawn from scores by composers Sir G.A. Macfarren and Sir Arthur Sullivan. These two composers set the stories of iconic folk hero Robin Hood to music at various points in the late Victorian era.
The opera Robin Hood was written by Macfarren in 1860 while the composer was going blind. His score sets a text by John Oxenford in varied and exciting movements. Robin Hood in Concert features solos, choruses and part-songs from this play. Additional music featured in the concert was written by renowned composer Sir Arthur Sullivan who worked on a Robin Hood based project called The Foresters, by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. This play includes many folk-music style pieces that are showcased by our singers.
While our concert only features excerpts, our soloists and chorus have been working on recording the full score to both plays at Peak Recording in Bozeman, MT. If you are interested in learning more or supporting our project, please visit www.robinhoodwebmusical.com
