Rob Wheeler with special guest Jana Varga LIVE @ The Sound Lounge, Sutton Somewhere between the haunting melodies, the delicate intricate musicianship and the intensely fragile lyrics, Rob Wheeler has discovered a refreshing new way of doing something timeless:
telling stories with his songs.

His growing catalogue is a collection of folk-inspired warm ballads and glossy Americana-pop songs, but with a typically British cynical view on love, lust, life, death, hope, regret, faith and despair.
He has received serious critical acclaim from respected music journalists such as Neil McCormick and Paul Sexton, and musical artists such as Wildwood Kin, Steve Balsamo and the Cardigans.
He has been likened to Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer, Paul Carrack and Bruce Springsteen.

The new album "Ten Embers,” due to be released in spring 2021, has been recorded with some of the most respected session musicians in the world; including guitarist Robbie McIntosh (John Mayer/Paul McCartney) ACM award-winning drummer Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow/Willie Nelson) and is mastered by Pete Maher (U2 & The 1975).

Where Rob really leaves his mark on you is through his soulful voice; particularly at his live performances. Hearing his raw, powerful, yet smokily smooth voice over his tender guitar and piano, you feel you have just experienced the musical equivalent of sipping a perfectly aged whisky, sat next to an open fire, as the cruel, cold modern world outside, for a short time at least, disappears.
The Slovak-raised singer-songwriter based in London has a typically stylish new single on release titled ‘I Made It To The Shore,’ ahead of a new album she’s now working on. It follows 2020’s
‘River In The Sky’ and her 2019 debut EP ‘Lanterns,’ on which Jana presented her blend of soft rock, folk pop with hints of country, all tied together with her pure vocals attracting comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter.
Jana’s musical journey started in her native Slovakia where she studied classical piano and flute. She went on to study flute in France and continued to pursue the career of a classical musician auditioning for orchestras. She was a member of progressive rock outfit ‘Persona Grata’ that received a lot of praise from Mike Portnoy (Dream Theatre) who invited the band to play at the ''Progressive Nation At Sea " in Miami, USA.
Following her childhood dream of becoming a singer, she took a leap of faith and moved to London in 2014, not knowing anyone there. At its core, her music is full of melodies that deliver lyrics effortlessly with great intimacy. Having lived away from her birthplace for a long time, she often sings about leaving or finding home.
Her EP Lanterns has been compared to the ‘'well-traveled folk of Paul Simon with the intimacy of Tracy Chapman... Overall this is an expertly performed record that is accessible without being simplistic, a great sign of things to come.’' (Folk And Honey on Lanterns EP)
