Road to Marriage

Nur Sa'aadah presents the Road to Marriage course.

Overview:

The course endeavours to prepare oneself for lifetime companionship through deeper understanding of the Islamic Tradition as well as personal, mutual and spiritual development.
The course will also discuss contemporary issues related to marriage from an islamic perspective.

The course is targeted at individuals who are seeking authentic guidance regarding Islamic marriage, as well as those already married.

Start date:

Monday 24th June 2024 at 7:45pm - 9:15pm.
The course will take place every Monday (once a week) for a duration of six weeks.

Course breakdown:

The course will run for a duration of 6 weeks.

Each week will include 1 hour of course time + 15 mins Q&A.

Week 1. Introduction and overview of marriage in Islam.

Week 2. Rulings and responsibilities.

Week 3. Islamic wedding practices.

Week 4. Post Nikah : Intimacy, family planning, Islamic parenting principles.

Week 5. Strengthening marital bonds and effective communication and conflict resolution.

Week 6. . Divorce in Islam; legal and ethical dimensions.

Meet your teacher: Shaykh Hasan Shire

Islamic Studies & Scholarship

Shaykh Hasan Shire, a distinguished London based chaplain, has dedicated a decade of his life to the in-depth study of Islamic disciplines in Hadramout, Yemen. His academic pursuit encompassed a broad spectrum of Islamic sciences, including Islamic legal theory, Hadith, and spiritual sciences, under the guidance of some of the most esteemed scholars of our era.

His journey of knowledge was nurtured by direct instruction from luminaries such as Habib ʿUmar bin Hafiẓ, Habib ʿAli Mashhur bin Hafiẓ, Habib Kaẓim al-Saqqaf, Habib Hashim bin Sahl bin Habib Ibrahim bin ʿAqil, Habib Muhammad al-ʿAydarus, Shaykh ʿUmar Husayn al-Khatib, and Shaykh Taha ʿAbd al-Hamid among others. This illustrious roster of mentors underscores the depth and richness of his Islamic education.

Experience

Shaykh Hasan serves in Essex as a chaplain within a private hospital setting, and is a Hospital Chaplain at University College London Hospitals. He also serves as a community chaplain undertaking a number of duties including Islamic marriage counselling.

Fees:

There will be a small fee of £45 for the six week course, which will cover registration, course content and light refreshments.
