About this Event
For London Rivers week, join us for a summer's evening walk along the Roding. We'll begin at Town Quay, where the river used to host the UK's largest fishing fleet and continuing up river where the industrial past of the river meets its wild present. We'll walk along the river all the way to Ilford, & end at the station there. The walk should take around 2 hours.
In addition to stories of the river's history, we'll be identifying the native trees & wildlife that exist on the river & hearing plans for the restoration of the river. Your guide will be Paul Powlesland, who founded the River Roding Trust & has lived on the river for 7 years, knowing this stretch of river intimately.
Some sections of the path are wild, so west sensible shows and long trousers to stop nettles & brambles catching you.
