We are looking to get some classic ambulances from The London Ambulance Service collection; these may just be a static exhibition, though we’re hoping to get at least one into the ring. Hopefully some other clubs will also join us – if you are a member of a club you think might like to be involved,, please feel free to suggest it, and put them in touch.
The plan is that each exhibitor would do 2 laps of a display arena in front of the barracks, then park up for the afternoon on Barrack Field. As each club perambulates (!) there would be a little spiel read out over the tannoy about the club, its history, notable vehicles etc - there’s a space on the sign up form to mention this…
It will also be open to non-members on an individual basis, so please share with friends – they will need to email us for a sign up form, though (or you can share, and they email it back to us. The request for a mobile number as opposed to a landline is in case we have to get hold of you on the day. The photo is if we need to show the commentator what vehicle they’re looking at.
The Kings Troop will also take a turn in the arena – I’m aiming for the cars to go first so we’re not driving through horse manure!
There will also be a funfair, kids 5-a-side football tournament during the afternoon, craft fair, local bands etc… The vehicles need to commit to be there until 4pm, though the event goes on till 10pm, and anyone is welcome to stay until the end if they wish; as always, if you have to leave in an emergency, we will try to get you off the field, but please ask for an escort, as the field will be busy with the public. Usual rules and regs apply on speed limits, common sense etc!
If you would be interested in attending, please email [email protected] for a sign up form, and please share with anyone you think would be interested. Full schedule to follow…
