The Riverside Music Series returns to Mayo Park this July and August with five weeks of free Sunday night concerts along the riverfront. For more than 30 years, Riverside has been a Rochester summer tradition, bringing the community together for evenings filled with music, food and connection.
This summer’s lineup brings a wide range of artists and energy to the stage, continuing a tradition of free concerts that turn Mayo Park into a place where people come together—for music, for food and for summer nights that feel like Rochester at its best.
Whether you’ve been coming for years or you’re brand new to Riverside, there’s a spot in the park waiting for you. Bring a chair or blanket, come early for food trucks and settle in for the kind of live music that makes summer feel like summer.

Vertical Horizon is a rock band originally founded in the early 1990s by Matt Scannell and Keith Kane, while they were students at Georgetown University. Later joined by several members at various times, the current band consists of Mathew Scannell, Ron La Vella, Donovan White, and Mark Pacificar. Known for their commitment to creative freedom and high-quality music, the band first gained attention through independently released albums before achieving major mainstream success after signing with RCA Records in 1999.
Their breakthrough album, Everything You Want, sold over two million copies and featured the hit title track, which became the most-played single of 2000 and topped the Billboard Hot 100. Other successful songs included You're a God and Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning), later covered by Gary Allan.
Today, Vertical Horizon continues touring and evolving musically, embracing a wide variety of styles while maintaining their rock roots. Their recent work, including support for The Lost Mile, reflects the band’s ongoing energy, growth, and dedication to authentic music-making.
