Join Aire Rivers Trust for a riverfly sampling taster session as part of our Lottery -funded Roots in the River Project.
The evening will introduce the volunteer-based riverfly counting method that uses eight groups of river bugs to assess the effects of pollution within a river.
Participants will take part in supervised practical, in river, sample collection and the bug counting process needed to assess river health. For volunteers intrested becoming fully training riverfly monitors a full training course and a sample site can be aranged by the Aire Rivers Trust citizen sciecne co-ordinator.

For participants interested in becoming regular riverfly monitors, it is recommended that they attend a minimum of 2-3 taster evenings to help them build their riverfly identification skills. Personal Equipment Needed: Wellington boots (contact sam with your shoe size, if you need to borrow a pair), Warm waterproof clothing, any Medic*tion need to stay healthy.
