Presented by the Tutton Group, the River Rock Concert Series is making its 2026 return by going back to the roots of rock and country!On August 15, River Rock welcomes to the stage: Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder.
Ricky Skaggs, a fifteen-time GRAMMY® winner and Country Music Hall of Famer, rose from a Kentucky child prodigy to a defining force in both bluegrass and country music, earning 12 #1 hits, revitalizing the genre in the 1980s, and later returning to bluegrass with his award‑winning band Kentucky Thunder. Honored by multiple halls of fame and the National Medal of Arts, he continues to champion and innovate within American roots music more than six decades after first picking up a mandolin.
"This group of guys meets my approval every night," Ricky says of Kentucky Thunder. "Each and every one of the pickers in Kentucky Thunder totally amazes me in every show...and that, to me, outweighs any award we could ever win." The all-star lineup of Kentucky Thunder includes Russ Carson (banjo), Justus Ross (lead guitar), Troy Engle (vocals, multi-instrumentalist), Gavin Kelso (bass), Mike Rogers (tenor vocals, rhythm guitar) and Billy Contreras (fiddle).
River Rock, hosted every third Sat., May-Aug. at the beautiful Etowah River Park, will feature local food trucks, beverage vendors, a children's area, and so much more! Best of all, River Rock is a FREE event, so bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, and get ready to rock and boot-scoot!
