About this Event
‘Places and Spaces’ Community ReadAround
Join us for a meaningful afternoon of storytelling and connection as we celebrate the seventh annual anthology, (a) river rising: Anthology of Women’s Voices: Spaces and Places at the historic Ritz Theatre. This collection delves into themes of what "place" and "space" mean to each of us, and adn features the art of Marsha Hatcher on the cover.
This event will take place amid the works of Teresa Cook and Emily Mitchell, our Zora Neale Hurston Fellows in 2024-2025, who expanded the work they started on Osceola Street to create a thoughtful and beatuiful exhibit about their own particualr interpretation of these themes.
Gathering in community to share our stories—surrounded by beautiful art—is a meaningful way to grow and transform both individually and collectively. The event will include readings by contributors to the anthology, facilitated conversations inspired by the stories and art, and an opportunity to view the current Spaces and Places exhibit.
This is an all-gender, community-wide event, and we welcome everyone to join us in this shared journey of storytelling and connection. We hope to see you there!
