About this Event
The Bernard I Rosen Memorial Lecture series is funded through the Jewish Community Board of Akron.
Join us for a free presentation by Dr. Rita Dove on Thursday, December 1st at 7PM.
American poet, writer, and teacher, Dr. Dove was the first African American to serve as Poet Laureate of the United States at the Library of Congress. Additionally, she is a Pulitzer Prize winner, National Book Award finalist, NAACP Image Award winner, and was presented the National Humanities Medal by President Bill Clinton and the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama. She is the only poet to receive both medals.
This December, the Bernard I. Rosen Memorial Lecture will welcome Dr. Dove back to her hometown of Akron for a community event at the John R. Buchtel Community Learning Center.
Registration is free and seating is first-come, first-served.
The Bernard I Rosen Memorial Lecture series extends our thanks to partners from across greater Akron who helped to make this event possible
