Riso Print Workshop

Explore the Risograph printing process and create a vibrant, two-colour edition of 10 x A3 prints from your own unique design. In this workshop, we’ll introduce you to the Risograph machine, a sustainable printing method that uses vegetable and soy-based inks. The process is fully analogue, and you’ll learn how to create artwork for Riso through mark-making and collage techniques. No experience is necessary, and all are welcome!

All materials are provided, but feel free to bring along any mark-making tools or greyscale images/layer separations you'd like to work with. This workshop doesn’t require computers, so everything will be done by hand.

This workshop is part of MAKE, the latest project by Narture Studios, which breathes new life into vacant properties in Ayr town centre. Our multi-functional space hosts creative workshops, including a Photography Dark Room and Risograph printing, as well as monthly exhibitions and a shop selling locally made products.
MAKE - SHOW - INTERACT

In this session, we’ll guide you through the Risograph printing process – think of it as a combination of screen printing and photocopying. We’ll supply a range of collage and mark-making materials to help you create artwork ready for printing. Each participant will print an edition of 10 x A3 2-colour Risograph prints using the scanner bed. If you have any favourite materials or pre-existing artwork (printed in greyscale) that you’d like to incorporate, feel free to bring them along.

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own edition of prints, and a solid understanding of the process.

Please note: this workshop is for participants aged 18 and over.

Our studio is located in Ayr, just a 5-minute walk from Ayr Bus Station and a 15-minute walk from Ayr Train Station. Free parking for up to 2 hours is available in the surrounding area.
