GOS chairman Owain Gabb will talk to the Gower Society about the long term ringing project at Oxwich. GOS members are welcome to attend.The Gower Ringing Group has been active at Oxwich Marsh since 2013. In this time over 50,000 bird captures have been made with data for all of these submitted to the British Trust for Ornithology. The result is a very detailed understanding of the passerine community of the marsh. A wide variety of birds including a number of scarce and rare species have been captured, and the site has become a hub for training of many aspiring ornithologists. The Welsh Ringing Course is held annually, drawing in ringers from throughout Wales and helping to build relationships between groups. The Gower Society has provided grant funding to the project for the last 10 years.
