About this Event
For decades, Riesling has unfortunately carried around a reputation that it is sweet and only sweet. Alas! Many a wine consumer is missing out on a beautiful grape due to this incorrect stereotype. In this class, we'll take a deep-dive into Riesling: where it's from, what climates and soils suit it best, and a few methods for how to tell if it will be sweet or dry (hint: most Riesling is actually dry!). We'll try Rieslings from the USA, Germany, France, and Australia so that you can experience the gamut of flavors and aromas, from bone dry with mineral, apple, and petrol to a lusciously sweet dessert wine that smells of honey, ginger, and apricot.
The class will be led by Afton Kortz, Barnard Griffin's Wine Club Manager, who is a French Wine Scholar and holds a Level 3 certification in Wine from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
