Sand Creek Massacre National Historic SiteUpdate: failed to mention in the original posting that there is approximately 6 miles of graded dirt road on the route to get to the site.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable cruise-style ride with the Colorado Triumph Riders on Sunday, March 23, 2025! This relaxed and scenic journey is open to friends riding any make or model, so spread the word—the more, the merrier!
The adventure kicks off at Starbucks, 6735 N Carefree Cir, Colorado Springs, CO 80922, with KSU (Kick Stands Up) at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Arrive early to grab a coffee, fuel up at the Maverik next door, and meet your fellow riders. This 151-mile route will take us through the heart of Colorado’s plains to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site, where we’ll honor history and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Entrance to the site is free.
It’s a 2.5-hour ride to the destination, with a planned fuel stop in Kit Carson (approximately 109 miles from the starting point). After a short rest and refuel, we’ll cover the final 42 miles to the site. On the return, riders can fuel up again in Kit Carson or Ellicott.
We recommend an early lunch or packing snacks for the road. If you’re riding in from the north, south, or west, check out the discussion thread to coordinate groups to ride to the event KSU together—it’s always better with company!
This ride is more than just the miles—it’s about camaraderie, history, and the thrill of the open road. Let’s make this an adventure to remember!
See you there!
We'll cancel the ride with no make up if there is winter weather or heavy precipitation occurring or in the forecast for the afternoon.
