2024 is the 22nd year of the International Ride of Silence. We will depart and return to Main Plaza, 115 Main avenue. We will meet around 6:30 and ride out at 7 pm. Team Taco and SATX Social Ride will be hosting this years ride. Riders are asked to wear white jerseys, shirts or t-shirts. We will ride in silence for the duration of the route, using hand signals when necessary. In case of an emergency we can break the silence.
"Feel free to write the name of someone injured or killed on a bicycle on your shirt or jersey so we may honor them during the ride."
If you have never participated in a Ride of Silence, here is the definition and description.
"The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured."

• to mourn those cyclists already killed by motorists
• to raise awareness (among motorists, police, and city officials) of cyclists on the road
• to have motorists know we only want to share the road we ride on
• to show that cyclists are not going away
THE RIDE OF SILENCE WILL NOT BE QUIET
On the third Wednesday of May, at 7 PM local around the world, cyclists will take to the roads in a silent protest of the carnage taking place on the streets.
We will have an approximate 9 mile route around the downtown area and back to Main Plaza.
