About this Event
Join RIBA Surrey for a guided visit to the Guildford Design Award-winning Hidden House, designed by Duncan Foster Architects. Hidden House is a contemporary, sustainable family home located in the Green Belt in the Surrey Hills, replacing a 1960s bungalow with a modern design that responds sensitively to its sloping site and the wider North Downs landscape. Clad in burnt ash and locally sourced stone, the house is carefully integrated into the hillside, with a stone base grounding the structure and a lighter upper storey opening up views across the surrounding countryside. Designed with flexibility in mind, the home combines strong connections to the landscape with practical, future-proofed living spaces.
The visit will include a tour of the house led by the project architect, offering insight into the design process, construction approach and sustainability strategies employed throughout the project.
The visit will last approximately an hour and a half.
Please note that access to the site is restricted and attendees will be asked to park along the road outside.
We look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be an insightful and engaging visit.
