About 8 Newton Street:
A substantial red brick block of nineteenth century Manchester, 8–16 Newton Street sits on the bustling edge of Piccadilly and the Northern Quarter. This series of interconnected Grade II listed buildings holds fascinating features and surprising details, now nearing the completion of a sensitively remodelling and refurbishment.
Atelier MB has uncovered the site’s history, retained the best of its character, and added some modern interventions.
Works to the upper floors include clever retention and re‑use strategies for timber panelled partitions, structural interventions, floor and wall upgrades to meet modern fire and acoustic standards, new lift shafts, and complex fire engineering solutions. All resulting in a range of 6 no. highly successful office suites – the majority of which were pre‑let prior to completion. Associated facilities include a wellness centre, gym and cycle store.
