About this Event
Did you know that in 2024, the LGBTQIA+ community in RI rated healthcare providers in our state a 6.4/10 in LGBTQIA+ competence? Or that 71% of those surveyed reported the last year’s political discourse on LGBTQIA+ rights worsened or significantly worsened their mental health? Come learn more about the needs, experiences, priorities, challenges, and joys of the LGBTQIA+ community right here in Rhode Island! East Bay Community Action Program’s Transgender Whole Healthcare Program, with support of the RI Foundation, conducted a statewide needs assessment survey for the LGBTQIA+ community in the summer of 2024. Questions ranged from demographics to health outcomes, discrimination to affirmation, priorities to concerns, and included opportunities for story telling and sharing messages of hope. EBCAP welcomes all our affirming community organizations and LGBTQIA+ community members to learn more about the data, discuss its implications, and enjoy good food with great company as we all imagine the profound impacts we can all have on the lives of LGBTQIA+ folks in the coming months and years.
