HLSL is delighted to be partnering with the Quebec Writers’ Federation (QWF) to offer an extraordinary spoken word poetry workshop in both RDL and Rimouski in February 2025!Workshop description: Unlock the power of your voice through spoken word, where poetry meets your personal story and everyone can participate. This workshop doesn't just speak to the rhythm of words; it celebrates your individuality and creativity. You’ll be guided through simple steps to turn your ideas into spoken poetry, making it a fun and insightful experience. By the end, you will be able to speak your poem with confidence!
Ideal for anyone looking to impress friends, amaze family, or just try something new, this workshop promises to be an energetic and supportive environment. Expect a day filled with smiles, cheers, and the powerful beat of spoken word.
These workshops are free, and open to anyone over 16 years of age. The workshops will be delivered in English, and are primarily for in-person attendees (exceptions can be made for those with mobility challenges).
About the facilitator: Shanthony Exum, also known by the stage name Miss Eaves, is a Montreal-based multimedia artist. Having toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, her music has been featured on popular shows on HBO and Netflix. Exum is passionate about celebrating confident femmes and non-binary individuals, using her art to advocate for feminist issues, sexual liberation, self-love, and environmental causes. Her work, particularly her music, has been praised by notable publications such as The New York Times, NPR, Billboard, New York Magazine, Elle, Glamour, Jezebel, and more. Her hit single "Thunder Thighs" has become a viral sensation, earning its place on lists of feminist anthems alongside legendary artists such as Beyoncé.
