When rhythm takes center stage, melody rises to meet it. This Indian Classical Fusion evening features TĀL FRY—a true collective of seven accomplished artists, in a dynamic journey through sound shaped by deep tradition and bold experimentation. The ensemble, which includes Aadarsh (Carnatic vocalist), Mahavir Chandrawat (dholak), Varun Rajasekharan (ghatam), Soumendra Goswami (sitar), Manohar Balatchandirane (mridangam), Ravinder Rajput (flute), and Zargham Akram Khan (tabla), collectively navigate the layered architecture of Indian classical rhythm, weaving together Carnatic and Hindustani traditions with folk influences and modern textures.
Each artist brings rigorous classical training and extensive stage experience—from Manohar’s early mastery of the mridangam and accompaniment of leading dancers, to Varun’s celebrated ghatam performances at major music festivals, Soumendra’s scholarship-led journey in sitar, and Mahavir and Zargham’s deep grounding in tabla traditions. Ravinder’s melodic phrasing on the flute bridges rhythm and melody with fluid ease.
The interplay between tabla, mridangam, ghatam, and dholak provides a driving, intricate core, while sitar, flute, and vocals introduce melodic depth and tonal colour. Thoughtfully designed lighting adds a striking visual element to the performance, heightening the sensory experience.
Since debuting in 2024, TĀL FRY has appeared at the Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia), Jaipur Literature Festival, and other leading cultural stages, earning acclaim for energetic performances and a distinctive, contemporary take on classical rhythm.
